Dolpo Trek; Dho Tarap

Our fully-catered expedition (with mule-train – all you’ll have to carry is a day pack!) will guide you through landscapes dominated by deep valleys and high plateaus, ancient Bon Monasteries dating back thousands of years, cliffs, caves and pristine crystal clear mountain rivers, all set against the white peaks of the Himalaya.

Every night you’ll go back to the same tent and be asleep under the stars. Every morning you’ll be woken up with bed-tea.

Days 1 -5:  Arriving in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, a city steeped in myths and legends, where terracotta rooftops and pagoda-style temples scatter the horizon. After a short time in Kathmandu you will fly to Far West Nepal, the most remote region of Nepal. The first few days walk will help to acclimatise you to the higher altitudes as we slowly trek northwards. You may feel like you’ve stepped back in time to the Medieval times…

Days 6-11: Now you will be getting used to walking 4/6 hours each day, we will start to ascend a bit higher. On day eight we will reach Dho Tarap (3944m), a famous settlement that has been a trading crossroad for centuries. After having the experience of walking many days in wild, unpopulated terrain and arriving at this remote village, you will discover much more than an ordinary traveller to Nepal. Truly off-the-beaten-track. We will take a rest day and spend some quality time in this settlement, chatting with the locals over a cup of Tibetan Tea.

Days 12-17: We will travel back down the same way we came up, and find different spots to camp depending on how slow or fast we may be walking.

We will be camping for the whole time away on the trek, and every night you will go back to the same tent, and sleep under the stars. The campsite will be taken care of for you and all meals including tea in bed

To make this trip 11 days, you can charter a helicopter to drop you at the trek start point and pick you up at the trek end point. Giving you the opportunity to see the range of Himalayas as you fly alongside them.
