Outline of the 17 Day Trek to Dho Tharap

Days 1 -5:  Arriving in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, a city steeped in myths and legends, where terracotta rooftops and pagoda-style temples scatter the horizon. After a short time in Kathmandu you will fly to Far West Nepal, the most remote region of Nepal. The first few days walk will help to acclimatise you to the higher altitudes as we slowly trek northwards. You may feel like you’ve stepped back in time to the Medieval times as time slows down as nature feels closer than ever.

Days 6-11: Now you will be getting used to walking 4 – 6 hours each day, you will start to increase your altitude and trek over a high pass of nearly 4000m. On day eight we will reach Dho Tarap (3944m), a famous settlement that has been a trading crossroad for centuries. After having the experience of walking many days in wild, unpopulated terrain and arriving at this remote village, you will discover much more than an ordinary traveller to Nepal. This exepdition is off-the-beaten-track and will provide an insight into Himalayan mountain people’s lives few get to treasure. You will take a rest day and spend some quality time in the settlement of Dho, and can chat with locals over a cup of Tibetan Tea, with the help of your expert guide for translation.
